Bending the Mold: An Action Kit for Transgender Youth

This is a really cool resource that I found on www.transyouth.com. It shows examples of how to take action in your schools and communities to fight transgender discrimination.

NYC Name Change

I am in the process of having my name legally changed to Isaac. This program virtually wrote my petition for me. It asks a few simple questions, you plug in the answers, and you can download your own personalized petition. You will need your parent/s to answer some of the questions. Click here to get to the program!

NOTE: You need Adobe Flash Player to run the program. To download it, Click Here. It's free and really easy.

NOTE 2: This program is ONLY FOR MINORS LIVING IN THE FIVE BOROUGHS OF NEW YORK CITY! I will try to find resources for minors living outside of New York soon.

HRT Mental Health Forms

I know, for myself at least, one of the hardest things about being a trans man is dealing with dysphoria about my body. I see other boys my age who are sprouting facial hair, and their voices are cracking, and I look like I'm ten years old because I'm on hormone blockers, so I've never been through any sort of puberty. I am in the process of beginning testosterone treatments, and one thing that I had to do was bring in a letter from a gender identity specialist saying that I am mentally stable and that I understand the risks and whatnot, and a letter from a regular therapist saying that I have no preexisting conditions that are causing me to make bad decisions about beginning testosterone. It was confusing to do because I wasn't sure, exactly, what they were supposed to write. I've written out sample letters for both a gender specialist and mental health specialist. You can use these simply as a format for your therapists to use, or you can simply fill in the blanks. To download the form for a gender specialist to use, click here, and to download a form for a regular mental health specialist to use, click here. I hope this helps! If there is any problem with the form, please notify me ASAP!
